About the position

The Data Scientist II - Claims position at Parkview North Hospital involves analyzing claims data and other complex datasets to develop innovative solutions for healthcare delivery challenges. The role focuses on utilizing statistical methods, machine learning, and data visualization to derive insights and support decision-making processes. The Data Scientist will maintain relationships with payers and third-party administrators to ensure high-quality data feeds and will be responsible for the entire model development lifecycle, from conception to implementation and support.

Responsibilities

  • Owns the claims data stream from payers and TPAs, monitoring quality reports and collaboratively resolving issues to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Applies statistical and machine learning techniques to identify patterns, trends, and insights in the data.
  • Assists in the development of predictive models, algorithms, and statistical analyses to solve specific business problems.
  • Creates clear and insightful data visualizations to communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with internal and external cross-functional teams to provide data-driven solutions.
  • Maintains clear and organized documentation of analysis methodologies and results.
  • Stays up-to-date with industry trends and emerging data science techniques to improve skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering) or equivalent; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Epic certification at time of hire or must obtain within 6 months after hire.
  • Formal training in the use of an enterprise analytics software solution.
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience in healthcare, preferably in a claims-related discipline.
  • Previous experience with Epic, SQL, Python (or similar), and Power BI is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Databricks) is desired.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on moderately complex projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Tableau).
  • Licensed healthcare professional desirable.
