About the position

The Data Scientist III at TD Bank plays a pivotal role in providing technical leadership within the Analytics function, focusing on advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence solutions. This position is responsible for developing and applying sophisticated statistical techniques to solve complex business problems, collaborating with stakeholders to drive data-driven decision-making and optimize business outcomes. The role involves end-to-end project delivery, from ideation to implementation, while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop robust and reliable machine learning algorithms to solve strategic business challenges.
  • Utilize advanced techniques such as machine learning, AI, NLP, and geospatial analytics on structured and unstructured data.
  • Leverage technologies like Python, Azure DataBricks, and PySpark to extract insights from large datasets.
  • Lead projects through all phases of the model lifecycle, including design, data gathering, training, and implementation.
  • Communicate model design and results effectively to senior leaders and business partners.
  • Provide thought leadership and mentorship to junior staff in advanced analytics and AI/ML areas.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into innovative data-driven solutions.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or advanced technical degree in math, physics, engineering, finance, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in data science or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of ML/AI algorithms and techniques, including Gradient Boosting, NLP, and Neural Networks.
  • Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL programming languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal training in a quantitative field such as Computer Science or Statistics.
  • Experience with Generative AI techniques and advancements.
  • Full stack experience in data science product delivery, including data collection and visualization.
  • Skilled with version control software like Git or Bitbucket.
