The Principal Data Scientist is a member of the Data Science team within the Data & Analytics Center of Excellence. You will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of machine learning and other advanced analytics solutions to meet business needs of partners across the company. You will report to the Data Science Sr Manager. In this role, you will independently design and develop machine learning models and/or advanced analytics solutions that will address important business needs. You will query and wrangle data for analysis and models, including performing exploratory data analysis and feature engineering. Leading meetings with partners to understand our needs, iterating through solutions, making recommendations, and identifying new opportunities for analytical solutions will be key responsibilities. You will effectively communicate findings, insights, and ideas, including through data visualizations. Additionally, you will lead collaborative efforts with other data scientists and Data & Analytics COE team members to implement high-quality code and participate in regular code reviews. Providing expertise to improve the team's coding and process standards and investigating new methodologies will also be part of your contributions to the technical expertise of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design and develop machine learning models and/or advanced analytics solutions that will address important business needs.
  • Query and wrangle data for analysis and models, including performing exploratory data analysis and feature engineering.
  • Lead meetings with partners to understand our needs, iterating through solutions, making recommendations, and identifying new opportunities for analytical solutions.
  • Effectively communicate findings, insights, and ideas, including through data visualizations.
  • Lead collaborative efforts with other data scientists and Data & Analytics COE team members to implement high-quality code and participate in regular code reviews.
  • Provide expertise to improving team's coding and process standards.
  • Investigate new methodologies and contribute to the technical expertise of the team.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience required, 5+ years of experience with Master's degree.
  • Proficiency writing clean and reproducible code in R or Python.
  • Proficiency in SQL, including subqueries/CTEs and joins.
  • Experience developing and implementing machine learning models in production.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms and common statistical concepts (e.g. hypothesis testing).
  • Experience with version control using git.
