About the position

The Principal Data Scientist is a key analytics professional responsible for generating data-driven insights to enhance healthcare outcomes. This role involves designing and optimizing analytic processes for machine learning and predictive modeling, specifically within complex pharmacy and medical health insurance programs. The position may also include supervisory responsibilities for junior analysts and data scientists.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualizes advanced scientific model design, including advanced predictive modeling, with health claims data.
• Finalizes model project deliverables and ensures findings are valid, reliable, and reproducible.
• Uses and directs others in the use of open-source data science tools to create and maintain features, listings, tabulations, graphical summaries, and formal statistical estimates and tests.
• Performs and directs others in the performance of advanced predictive modeling for clinical program development/enhancement.
• Develops automated production analysis tools where appropriate and creates production predictive modeling process for clinical programs.
• Mentors and coaches less experienced Data Scientists and analysts; may have direct supervision over exempt level employees.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience; HS diploma or GED is required.
• 8 years of related experience with large data sets, Python, SQL, open-source data science tools, and building predictive models.
• Experience in leading collaborative coding, code review, and code documentation.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship.
