About the position

The Data Scientist for the Pricing-FX Product Analytics team at PayPal plays a crucial role in driving data-driven insights to enhance product performance and support new product launches. This position involves deep analysis of pricing behaviors, root cause analysis of anomalies, and collaboration with product leaders to establish metrics for measuring success. The role is integral to the company's monetization strategy and requires a strong analytical mindset to synthesize large data volumes and present findings to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop root cause analysis for anomalous events and unexpected pricing behaviors.
  • Analyze product performance and health, triage issues, and provide recommendations for optimization.
  • Design, construct, implement, and analyze pricing experiments to drive statistical conclusions.
  • Execute and present funnel tracking and data mining insights for pricing product launches.
  • Partner closely with product leaders to understand new product offerings and recommend metrics for performance measurement.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Synthesize large volumes of data with attention to detail and present findings to senior-level stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering and data engineering to enable feature tracking and resolve complex data issues.
  • Identify key metrics, conduct explorative data analysis, and create executive-facing presentations and dashboards.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in data science roles or 2+ years of experience in product or payments analytics.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Proficient in statistical/probabilistic methodologies such as causal inference.
  • Experience in product experimentation, A/B testing, and pre/post analysis.
  • Proactive, resilient, goal-oriented, and self-motivated.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient with reporting software such as Tableau, Looker, or Qlikview.
