The Data Scientist (Product/Pricing) at PayPal plays a crucial role in driving data-driven insights to enhance product performance and pricing strategies. This position involves analyzing product performance, conducting root cause analysis, and supporting new product launches through rigorous testing and monitoring. The role requires collaboration with product leaders and engineering teams to ensure effective feature tracking and data pipeline management, ultimately contributing to PayPal's monetization strategy and overall business success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop root cause analysis for anomalous events and unexpected pricing behaviors.
  • Analyze product performance and health, triage issues, and provide recommendations for optimization.
  • Design, construct, implement, and analyze pricing experiments to drive statistical conclusions.
  • Execute and present funnel tracking and data mining insights for pricing product launches.
  • Partner closely with product leaders to recommend metrics for measuring performance of new features.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Synthesize large volumes of data and present findings to senior-level stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering and data engineering to resolve complex data issues and build data pipelines.
  • Identify key metrics and conduct explorative data analysis to drive decision making.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in data science roles or 2+ years of experience in product or payments analytics.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Proficient in statistical/probabilistic methodologies such as causal inference.
  • Experience in product experimentation, A/B testing, and pre/post analysis.
  • Proficient with reporting software such as Tableau, Looker, or QlikView.
