U.S. Data Security (USDS) is a subsidiary of TikTok in the U.S., created to enhance focus and governance on data protection policies and content assurance protocols to keep U.S. users safe. The USDS team is dedicated to providing oversight and protection of the TikTok platform and U.S. user data, ensuring that millions of Americans can continue to use TikTok for learning, earning, self-expression, and entertainment. The teams within USDS span across Trust & Safety, Security & Privacy, Engineering, User & Product Ops, Corporate Functions, and more, all working towards this commitment. The USDS-Platform and Community Integrity (PaCI) team is tasked with protecting U.S. TikTok users, including content consumers, creators, and advertisers, while securing platform health and community experience authenticity. This team builds infrastructures and technologies and collaborates with various cross-functional teams and stakeholders to minimize the impact of inauthentic behaviors on TikTok platforms. The work involves addressing multiple risk areas such as account integrity, engagement authenticity, anti-spam measures, API abuse, growth fraud, live streaming security, and financial safety. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to engage with the company's strategic security initiatives, particularly in developing scalable, robust, intelligent, and privacy-safe systems and solutions. The challenges faced are not typical technical puzzles; instead, you will be part of a team that creates innovative solutions to unprecedented challenges in a rapidly evolving product ecosystem. To foster collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring employees to work in the office three days a week or as directed by their manager. This model is regularly reviewed, and specific requirements may change at any time.

Responsibilities

• Build rules, algorithms, and machine learning models to respond to and mitigate business risks in TikTok products/platforms.
• Analyze business and security data to uncover evolving attack motions, identify weaknesses, and explore new opportunities in risk defense solutions.
• Define risk control measurements and quantify, generalize, and monitor risk-related business and operational metrics.
• Align risk teams and their stakeholders on risk control numeric goals, promoting impact-oriented, data-driven data science practices for risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, statistics, math, internet security, or other relevant STEM majors.
• Solid data science skills with proficiency in statistical analytical tools such as SQL, R, and Python.
• Familiarity with machine learning or social/content online platform analytics; proficiency in modern machine learning applications is a bonus.
• Ability to think critically, objectively, and rationally, with strong communication skills in a result-oriented, data-driven manner.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in financial fraud roles if applying for such positions.
• Knowledge of advanced machine learning techniques and applications.
