About the position

Humana is seeking a Data Scientist 2 to join our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, where you will play a crucial role in identifying impactful data sets for the organization. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about data and its potential to drive business decisions. As a Data Scientist 2, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and accuracy of data, while also establishing processes for gathering, validating, analyzing, and reporting data sets. Your work will involve using advanced data visualization and dashboarding techniques to present information effectively. In this role, you will develop, maintain, and collect both structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting. You will create reports, projections, models, and presentations that support business strategies and tactics. Understanding the department, segment, and organizational strategy is essential, as you will need to make informed decisions regarding your work methods, even in ambiguous situations. You will follow established guidelines and procedures while identifying, pulling, reviewing, and validating data sets to ensure their quality and accuracy. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you analyze large, complex data sets to extract insights that support decision-making processes. You will also be responsible for developing predictive models and proposing solutions to business challenges based on your findings. Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and collect structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting.
  • Create reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics.
  • Understand department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas.
  • Make decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and require minimal direction and guidance where needed.
  • Follow established guidelines/procedures.
  • Identify, pull, review, and validate data sets.
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and accuracy of datasets.
  • Analyze large, complex data sets to extract insights and support decision making.
  • Develop predictive models.
  • Present information using data visualization techniques.
  • Propose solutions to business challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4 years technical experience
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc.
  • Experience with SQL queries
  • Experience working with large databases
  • Experience in developing, maintaining, and collecting structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting
  • Experience in creating reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business
  • Experience in using mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions
  • Possesses an understanding of department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas
  • Capable of making decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations.
