About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to support a key government customer by devising strategies for extracting meaningful data from large datasets. The role involves implementing quantitative and qualitative methods for data assessment, transforming technical collection into narratives, and working in cross-functional teams to meet mission needs. The position emphasizes collaboration with Civilian and Military professionals and innovation in data science solutions.

Responsibilities

• Devise strategies for extracting meaningful data from large datasets.
• Implement quantitative and qualitative methods for characterizing, exploring, and assessing large datasets.
• Transform technical collection into meaningful narratives using analytical, statistical, computer science, and programming skills.
• Work in cross-functional teams to analyze technical information and integrate data science capabilities to meet mission needs.
• Support Civilian and Military professionals in applying advanced data science techniques.
• Innovate solutions to address customer's critical capabilities and limitations.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and the company.
• Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research, or Computer Science.
• 10 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 12 years of relevant experience with in-depth related experience.
• Experience in designing/implementing machine learning, data science, and advanced analytical algorithms.
• Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Python) and one mid-level language (e.g., C).
• Experience in data mining, advanced statistical analysis, and advanced mathematical foundations.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree preferred.
• Experience in more than three relevant areas is strongly preferred.
