About the position

The TikTok Monetization Products data science team is dedicated to enabling and championing data-driven decision-making. Our vision is to become a world-class data science team where data is rigorously used to drive all decision-making processes. Our mission focuses on driving monetization and sustainable revenue growth for TikTok through data science. As part of the Ads Interfaces team, we aim to help businesses grow efficiently and inspire customers to fulfill their demand by providing reliable, high-standard marketing solutions. We build various platforms, including Ads Manager, Business Center, API, and Customer Service System, to serve different types of businesses. As a data scientist on this team, you will apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data presentation to understand how our customers interact with our ads products. You will partner with Product, Engineering, User Research, Designers, and other teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities. Your role will involve informing, influencing, supporting, and executing our product decisions, as well as collaborating with data engineering to build and maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics to monitor product performance and extract useful insights from massive amounts of data.

Responsibilities

  • Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data presentation to understand customer interactions with ads products.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, User Research, Designers, and other teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities.
  • Inform, influence, support, and execute product decisions based on data insights.
  • Collaborate with data engineering to build and maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics to monitor product performance.
  • Mine large datasets to extract useful product insights.

Requirements

  • Sustained track record of driving business value and improving products with data insights, especially in advertising, growth, marketing, or relevant domains.
  • Fluency in SQL or other programming languages (Python, R, etc.) for data manipulation.
  • Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner.
  • Collaborative work style with a product-focused mindset and without ego.
  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative analysis.
  • BA/BS in Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields; advanced degrees preferred but not required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience building up a team or mentoring other data scientists is a plus.
  • Experience on Ads Interfaces or working with advertisers or agencies is a plus.
