About the position

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, with a mission to inspire creativity and bring joy to over 1 billion users globally. The TikTok Monetization Products data science team plays a crucial role in enabling data-driven decision-making to drive monetization and sustainable revenue growth. The Search Ads team specifically focuses on enhancing ad solutions to better monetize TikTok's search product, requiring quantitative expertise to evolve and meet the needs of advertisers and users alike. Data scientists within this team are embedded in the product team, responsible for setting product goals, driving growth, and designing experiments to identify opportunities and risks. As a Data Scientist for TikTok Ads, you will inform, influence, support, and execute product decisions through data. Your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data presentation will help you understand customer interactions with ad products. You will collaborate with various teams, including Product, Engineering, User Research, and Design, to solve problems and identify trends. Additionally, you will work closely with data engineering to build and maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics that monitor product performance and derive insights. Your technical skills in quantitative analysis and experimentation will be essential in developing strategies that serve billions of users and millions of businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Inform, influence, support, and execute product decisions through data.
  • Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data presentation to understand customer interactions with ads products.
  • Help partner teams prioritize what to build, set goals, and understand their product's ecosystem.
  • Guide teams using data and insights for analytics.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, User Research, Designer, and other teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities.
  • Work with data engineering to build and maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics to monitor product performance and identify insights.
  • Develop strategies for products that serve billions of people and millions of businesses using technical expertise in quantitative analysis and experimentation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience doing quantitative analysis.
  • BA/BS in Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields; advanced degrees preferred but not required.
  • Sustained track record of driving business value and improving products with data insights, especially in advertising, growth, marketing, or relevant domains.
  • Fluency in SQL or other programming languages (Python, R, etc.) for data manipulation.
  • Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner.
  • Experience building up a team or mentoring other data scientists is a plus.
