About the position

The Data Scientist position is focused on creating systems and processes for gathering and analyzing various types of unorganized 'big data'. The primary aim is to produce useful insights and visualization tools that will enhance client service delivery and improve product offerings. This role requires a deep understanding of data management, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques to extract meaningful insights from large datasets. The successful candidate will collaborate with Quality Engineers to develop data validation strategies and maintain the data pipeline and infrastructure. Additionally, the role involves working closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions and create tailored reports that inform business decisions. In this position, the Data Scientist will be responsible for building algorithms and designing experiments to manage and extract data. They will utilize machine learning tools and statistical techniques to develop custom data models and algorithms applicable to various datasets. The role also includes identifying significant insights from large data and metadata sources, interpreting findings through data mining and discovery analytics, and effectively communicating these insights to stakeholders. The Data Scientist will be expected to have a strong working knowledge of MathWorks development practices and demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills to convey complex data findings clearly. The work location is at the customer office in Portland, Oregon, and the candidate will be expected to engage directly with clients and stakeholders to ensure that the data solutions provided meet their needs and expectations. This position is critical in driving data-driven decision-making within the organization and enhancing the overall quality of service provided to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Create systems and processes for gathering and analyzing big data.
  • Develop algorithms and design experiments to manage and extract data.
  • Use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to develop custom data models and algorithms.

Requirements

  • Experience in cleaning, preprocessing, and analyzing large datasets (more than 3 years).
  • Ability to develop and implement data models and algorithms (more than 3 years preferred).
  • Knowledge of data mining and pattern recognition (3 years of experience preferred).
  • Establish and maintain the data pipeline and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers to develop data validation strategies (more than 3 years preferred).
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of MathWorks development practices.
  • Business level proficiency in English.
  • More than 3 years of experience as a Data Analyst.
  • Experience with statistical software (pandas) and database languages (e.g., SQL) (3 years).
  • Experience with scripting in Python (more than 3 years preferred).
  • Expert level proficiency in SQL and Excel.
  • Experience with Semi Chip or SEMI Equipment (added advantage).
  • Experience in MATLAB (valuable addition).
  • Applied experience with machine learning on large datasets (more than 3 years).
  • Demonstrated skills in selecting the right statistical tools for data analysis problems.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient with reporting tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Experience with data security.
