About the position

The Data Scientist at Loyola University Chicago will analyze large and diverse omics and clinical data to uncover insights that can enhance patient health and human capabilities. This role involves collaboration with scientists to develop intelligence-driven systems aimed at solving complex translational problems, utilizing advanced data science and AI techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and recommend new approaches for data-driven decision-making.
  • Leads discovery processes on pioneering AI/ML based approaches to solve complex data problems across various domains.
  • Provides strategic direction regarding data science and AI.
  • Guides and educates basic science and clinical teams to provide unbiased and accurate information, analysis, consultation, and recommendations to support strategic and operational data science initiatives.
  • Develops analytics tools that can be used by other staff with non-technical expertise.
  • Supports scientific projects under the supervision of the principal investigator.
  • Designs, develops, applies, and modifies scripts or software applications to support data management, extraction, and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Considerable experience in the field may substitute for a PhD.
