The Data Scientist position at the University of Pittsburgh involves providing subject matter expertise in data manipulation, statistical methodologies, and data analysis. The role requires collaboration with principal investigators or study sponsors to design high-level studies, collect data, analyze datasets, develop protocols, and conduct statistical analysis and inference. The Data Scientist will also be responsible for report writing and presentations aimed at both internal and external audiences. This position leads the development of complex analytical plans, creates systems for data monitoring, and provides high-level statistical support. The use of statistical software is essential, as is the creation of research study reports and contributions to manuscripts, grants, and scientific presentations. Adherence to all protocols is a critical aspect of this role. The Data Scientist will analyze complex datasets that include longitudinal and multidimensional measurements related to health and brain domains. Proficiency in R and other statistical packages is required to analyze omic datasets and integrate them with other health-related markers. The role also involves summarizing methods and results for publications and grant proposals, as well as carrying out sample size and power calculations to detect minimum effect sizes for grant applications. Additionally, the Data Scientist will oversee the analyses of pre and postdoctoral trainees and provide educational workshops and seminars on data analyses related to the T32 PNA topics.
