About the position

National Capitol Contracting (NCC) is seeking Data Scientists at various levels to support a contract with the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Shipboard Maintenance Performance Group (SMPG). The role involves establishing a Data Analytics Lab, improving data management practices, and leveraging data analytics to enhance ship maintenance operations for the Navy Fleet Shipyards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the stand-up of the Data Analytics Lab at NAVSEA Naval Shipyards.
• Recommend software/hardware analytics and data management toolsets.
• Develop data procedures and policies to govern data assets.
• Analyze and streamline processes for managing ship maintenance operations using data.
• Implement industry best practices and contribute to new service offerings for ship maintenance stakeholders.
• Develop policies to ensure data protection, governance, quality, and lifecycle management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Science, or related field.
• Experience in building and leading data management and analytics projects for Federal clients.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
• Knowledge of big data technology infrastructure and environments.
• Proficient in data tools (e.g., Oracle, SQL, SAP IQ) and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, SAP Business Objects).
• Experience in developing machine learning models.
