About the position

Andromeda Systems Incorporated (ASI) is seeking a Data Scientist to support Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial projects in Jacksonville, FL. ASI provides tools and services that assist Physical Asset Owners, Fleet Managers, and Military Program Managers in gaining critical insights into their equipment's performance. The Data Scientist will play a crucial role in helping clients identify system improvements, optimize operations, and make better business decisions, ultimately achieving measurable life-cycle cost savings. ASI is recognized for its expertise in Acquisition Program Management, Engineering, and Logistics disciplines, serving both military and commercial sectors. The successful candidate will work within a logistics team to extract actionable insights from complex data sets, perform exploratory data analysis, and apply advanced data manipulation techniques to prepare data for analysis. In this role, the Data Scientist will be responsible for identifying patterns, correlations, and anomalies within datasets, aggregating data, and performing statistical analysis to answer questions posed by teammates or customers. The candidate will also apply mathematical models to understand trends in data sets and forecast future trends based on historical data. Effective communication of findings to both technical and non-technical teammates using appropriate visualization techniques is essential. The Data Scientist will also be tasked with identifying additional data sources to enhance insights and collaborating with the team to make informed decisions based on data findings. Staying up to date with the latest tools in data science is also a key expectation of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a logistics team to extract actionable insights based on complex data sets
  • Perform exploratory data analysis on various disparate data sets to understand structure, quality, and gain insights
  • Perform advanced data manipulation techniques to clean, transform, and prepare data for analysis
  • Identify patterns, correlations, and anomalies within datasets
  • Aggregate data and perform statistical analysis to answer questions presented by teammates or customers
  • Apply mathematical models to understand patterns and trends in data sets
  • Forecast future trends based on historical data
  • Effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical teammates using the most appropriate visualization technique
  • Identify and research the availability of additional data sources to provide more accurate insights
  • Work with the team to make informed decisions based on data findings
  • Stay up to date with the latest tools in data science

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related discipline from a U.S. accredited institution
  • 2+ years of work experience in data analytics
  • Experience with data visualization techniques and tools such as Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, and Python libraries such as Plotly, Matplotlib, and Seaborn
  • Proficient in Python to include knowledge of Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
  • Familiarity with SQL Server database for data retrieval and manipulation
  • Strong data analytics skills
