About the position

L.E.K. Consulting is seeking a Data Scientist or Senior Data Scientist to join its Data & Analytics team. This role focuses on providing technical expertise in executing complex analytics across various client engagements, developing innovative tools and applications, and driving technical roadmaps. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and the chance to work at the intersection of data science and commercial business understanding, delivering analytically driven recommendations to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end data science projects from conceptualization through to deployment.
  • Deploy advanced machine learning models in clients' cloud environments, optimizing for scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Support clients in strategically leveraging technical models and guide them through the interpretation of results.
  • Solve complex analytical challenges for clients, balancing multiple engagements simultaneously.
  • Drive the development of state-of-the-art analytical apps using up-to-date machine learning algorithms.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to innovate on apps, service lines, and proprietary data assets.
  • Provide technical expertise and thought leadership on developing analytical tools and services.
  • Support Managing Directors in developing and delivering client proposals related to advanced data and analytics.
  • Stay updated on best-in-class software, tools, and techniques for client solutions.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to the technical capabilities of the team.

Requirements

  • Degree in a quantitative and/or business discipline (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Economics).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in applied data science for Data Scientist role; minimum of 4 years for Senior Data Scientist role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Python and data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch), Spark, SQL.
  • Technical understanding of machine learning algorithms and experience with data science techniques (classification models, clustering analysis, time-series modeling, NLP).
  • Expertise in developing and deploying machine learning models in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with MLOps practices, including CI/CD for ML, model versioning, and performance tracking.
  • Hands-on experience with large structured and unstructured datasets and data acquisition practices.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Alteryx and Tableau.
  • Experience at a consulting firm or agency.
  • Technical knowledge of optimization.
