About the position

The Data Services Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining system integrations and components, including application-to-application integrations, services, internal and external APIs, file transfers, and SQL queries. This role involves participating in requirements analysis, design, development, internal testing, and documentation for integrations, as well as troubleshooting existing integrations and providing technical support to the Data Services Team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain system integrations and components.
• Participate in requirements analysis, design, development, and internal testing.
• Document application-to-application integrations.
• Troubleshoot existing integrations and provide technical support.
• Maintain data infrastructure including data lakes, warehouses, and pipelines.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of data products for decision making.
• Support the Data Services Team in designing standards for data interfaces.
• Design and maintain data integrations between systems with monitoring.
• Collaborate with Data Analysts, Infrastructure, Applications Teams, and stakeholders.
• Research and support the integration of emerging technologies.
• Prepare and maintain Open Data sets in accordance with City Code.
• Manage metadata related to the City's Open Data Ordinance.
• Implement data privacy and governance procedures.

Requirements

• Two years of full-time experience in software engineering or data analytics.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with data lakes and data warehouses.
• Familiarity with data governance and privacy standards.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies in data services.
