About the position

The DataStax Database Admin / Senior Cassandra Consultant position is a critical role responsible for managing and optimizing DataStax Cassandra databases across multiple environments. The successful candidate will be tasked with installing, configuring, and upgrading the DataStax Cassandra DBMS, ensuring that it operates efficiently and securely. This role requires a deep understanding of Cassandra architecture and NoSQL concepts, as well as hands-on experience with the DataStax Enterprise (DSE) platform. The consultant will design and implement data models and schemas tailored to the specific needs of the organization, while also developing resource plans to optimize performance. In addition to installation and configuration, the consultant will monitor the health and performance of Cassandra clusters, proactively identifying and resolving issues such as performance bottlenecks, data inconsistencies, and software bugs. Implementing robust backup and recovery strategies is essential to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime. The role also involves automating administrative tasks using tools like Ansible, which includes creating and modifying Ansible playbooks to streamline monitoring, maintenance, and deployment processes. Staying updated with the latest DataStax and Cassandra releases, security patches, and industry best practices is crucial for this position. The consultant will be expected to leverage their extensive experience in NoSQL databases to enhance the overall performance and reliability of the database systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure and upgrade DataStax Cassandra DBMS on multiple environments.
  • Design and implement Cassandra data models, schemas, and resource plans.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance, health, and security of Cassandra clusters.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, data inconsistencies, and software bugs.
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and minimizing downtime.
  • Automate administrative tasks by using Ansible/other scripts for monitoring, maintenance, and deployment.
  • Create new and modify existing Ansible playbooks.
  • Stay updated with DataStax and Cassandra releases, new features, security patches, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • 9+ Years of experience in handling NoSQL database.
  • Strong knowledge of the DataStax Enterprise (DSE) platform, Cassandra architecture, and NoSQL concepts.
  • Proficient in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting DataStax Enterprise (DSE) Cassandra clusters.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems and Shell scripting.
  • Hands-on administration experience with DataStax architecture.
  • Experience with backup and restore/recovery strategies.
  • Strong SQL experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification of DataStax would be an added advantage.
