About the position

The Data Submission and Health Information Specialist at Children's Hospital Association (CHA) plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate hospital data submissions. This position involves collaborating with member hospitals to enhance data quality, establish standards, and support the use of healthcare terminologies. The specialist will work under the Manager of Data Submission & Data Quality and will engage in various projects aimed at improving the comparability and quality of pediatric health data.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the data submission process for hospitals using available technologies.
  • Engage with member hospitals to coordinate the data submission process with project management plans.
  • Work with data management vendors to implement data quality checks during data acquisition.
  • Develop and refine documentation for data content and processes.
  • Coordinate data submission implementation for new hospitals.
  • Identify standardization opportunities and implement solutions for data quality.
  • Investigate root causes of data quality issues and present recommendations.
  • Increase awareness of coding and classification systems among internal and external users.
  • Assist with coding, health data, and research requests.
  • Conduct health and coded data quality improvement programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health information management (RHIA preferred) or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with database products.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Familiarity with healthcare terminologies and classification systems (ICD-10, CPT, etc.).
  • Previous coding experience (inpatient preferred).
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with health care reimbursement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with various coding systems and terminologies.
