About the position
The Office of Data, Analytics, Reporting, and Analysis (DARpA) at Lamar University is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to fill the role of Data Support Analyst. This position is integral to supporting customer data needs across various platforms and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and data management. The Data Support Analyst will collaborate closely with DARpA staff to build and maintain forms, workflows, and dashboards that are essential for data reporting and analysis. The incumbent will be responsible for troubleshooting data issues encountered by end users and will work with stakeholders to ensure that data is formatted, cleaned, and distributed effectively for various projects. In this role, the Data Support Analyst will create and distribute training materials for system end-users, ensuring that all users are equipped to utilize the data systems effectively. Additionally, the analyst will oversee the design and maintenance of the DARpA and University Data Governance websites, ensuring that they are user-friendly and up-to-date. The position requires a strong understanding of data management principles, database systems, and data visualization tools, particularly Tableau. The analyst will also need to be proficient in using various applications such as Smartsheet and Formstack to support the production of reports and dashboards. The work environment is primarily office-based, with the possibility of occasional remote work. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required to meet project deadlines or accommodate special events. The Data Support Analyst will play a crucial role in enhancing the data capabilities of Lamar University, contributing to the institution's mission of providing accessible education and fostering community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain forms and custom workflows through Smartsheet and Formstack platforms.
- Provide maintenance for institutional data dashboards through Tableau and Smartsheet.
- Provide end user support for workflow/forms production, Argos reporting, Tableau, and other supported platforms.
- Support the production of standard and custom reports utilizing Smartsheet, Tableau, and other applications.
- Work with stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve localized errors in data systems.
- Update and maintain DARpA website through the Lamar CMS.
- Create training materials for supported systems.
Requirements
- Associate degree in a related field required (Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.).
- In lieu of an associate degree, a minimum of four years' experience in the field will be considered.
- Experience working with large scale data sets.
- Experience in providing customer support.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Detail oriented and accurate in handling data.
- Ability to troubleshoot end-user issues.
- Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Science, Statistics, Business, Social Sciences, etc.).
- Experience in data gathering and/or system management.
- Experience with Banner ERP system.
- Experience with Argos reporting software.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience working with data visualizations.
- Experience with Smartsheet and Formstack or other forms-based applications.
