About the position

The Data/System Architect role is focused on designing and implementing information systems, ensuring effective data management and system integration. This position requires extensive experience in technical writing, systems analysis, and various programming languages, with a strong emphasis on relational databases and data modeling. The role is contract-based, with a duration of 8 months, and is open to local candidates, with non-local candidates expected to cover their own travel and relocation expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update lifecycle documents through technical writing.
  • Analyze and design systems to meet business needs.
  • Program using COBOL and SML ACL languages.
  • Utilize JCL and PROCS for job control language tasks.
  • Employ ENDEAVOR for software change management.
  • Use TSO/ISPF/Dialog Manager for system operations.
  • Conduct process and data modeling initiatives using manual and automated tools.
  • Perform functional systems analysis, design, development, integration, documentation, and implementation.
  • Recommend and implement industry best practices in IT service delivery.
  • Provide technical support and oversight in functional areas related to IT solutions and architectures.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in data/system architecture.
  • Strong technical writing skills for documentation and lifecycle updates.
  • Experience with relational databases, specifically DB2.
  • Proficiency in data access methods and systems analysis.
  • Knowledge of COBOL and SML ACL programming languages.
  • Experience with JCL and PROCS.
  • Familiarity with ENDEAVOR and TSO/ISPF/Dialog Manager.
  • Experience in process and data modeling using various tools.
  • Ability to apply enterprise-wide disciplines for information systems planning and design.
  • Knowledge of Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) technologies.
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to independently research and solve problems.
