About the position

The Data Systems Analyst 2 position is situated within the Department of Neurology at the University of California Davis Health System, specifically in the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. This role is pivotal in supporting the research efforts focused on understanding Alzheimer's disease and other neurological disorders. The incumbent will be responsible for various tasks including database development, conducting quality audits, inputting data, curating database reports for Principal Investigators (PIs), and fulfilling external resource sharing requests. Additionally, the analyst will provide insightful analysis and recommendations to the database management team regarding multiple databases. The position requires a high level of independence, as the incumbent is expected to perform their duties without detailed supervision. The Alzheimer's Disease Research Center is a large, multi-site, and diverse center located in Sacramento, California, where a team of researchers collaborates to study comprehensive biomarkers related to both Alzheimer's pathology and non-Alzheimer's specific brain injuries that may influence cognitive decline trajectories. The role is integral to the research team, which includes leading neuroscientists and healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing knowledge in the field of neurology. The analyst will also engage in training and mentoring activities, ensuring that team members are well-equipped to utilize the database systems effectively. This position is hybrid, allowing for a mix of on-site and remote work, and is expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing research initiatives within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Database development and management
  • Conducting database quality audits
  • Inputting data into various databases
  • Curating database reports for Principal Investigators (PIs)
  • Fulfilling external resource sharing requests
  • Providing analysis and recommendations to the database management team
  • Training and mentoring team members
  • Acting as a program liaison for various projects
  • Performing miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience/training
  • 1-3 years of experience working with clinical research data management systems
  • 1-3 years of experience with SQL database administration and programming
  • Experience integrating new software and programs to data services
  • Experience developing web applications
  • Experience working with researchers and understanding their data requests
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft/Office 365, SQL Server, and other database systems
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to identify and solve data management problems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve project goals
  • Strong organizational skills to monitor multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and follow security protocols for PHI information

Nice-to-haves

  • 1-3 years of experience working with OpenSpecimen databases
  • Experience in a Super Administrator role
