About the position

The Data Systems Engineer at MACOM is responsible for enhancing and maintaining large-scale data solutions that integrate on-premises databases and cloud technologies. This role focuses on improving data accessibility and quality across the organization, providing architectural guidance, and developing data pipelines to support various teams. The engineer will work collaboratively within the Big Data Team to ensure effective data management and analysis, aligning with business needs and technological advancements.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate existing systems and provide architectural guidance for the engineering data system and manufacturing execution system.
  • Improve and maintain large-scale data solutions using on-premises databases and cloud solutions.
  • Organize disparate real-time data streams from globally deployed test systems for future analysis.
  • Support various teams across MACOM with their data needs.
  • Develop and deploy data pipelines to collect data from various sources and store it in the cloud.
  • Assist in the development of tools that allow users to access data stored in cloud and on-prem databases.
  • Collaborate with team members to enable creative problem solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field required (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven ability to work in distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS platforms and tools (S3, QuickSight, Lambda, Athena, SAM).
  • Fluent in SQL and scripting languages (Python, Java preferred).
  • Experience with building data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Strong understanding of relational and no-SQL databases.
  • Knowledge of data ingestion using Spark for various file types (Json, Xml, Csv) and databases.
  • Ability to architect high availability, high performance systems with zero risk of data loss.
  • Knowledge of development methodologies like Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and test-driven development.
  • Knowledge of API, Apache Spark, Grafana, Loki, Git, Docker, Linux.
  • Experience uniting disparate legacy data sources into a unified platform for analysis and operations.
