About the position

The Data Test Engineer role is focused on validating functional requirements for Finance, Treasury, and banking regulatory reporting test scenarios. This position involves creating use cases, user stories, and test scripts, as well as coordinating and overseeing the validation of end-to-end business and system processes. The engineer will also be responsible for planning and executing various testing phases, including non-functional testing, system integration, and user acceptance testing, while ensuring quality standards throughout the ETL lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Understand functional requirements for Finance, Treasury, and banking regulatory reporting test scenarios.
• Create use cases, user stories, and test scripts for functional requirements validations.
• Define testing phase entrance and exit criteria.
• Facilitate environment readiness validation (connectivity, test data, user access, etc.).
• Coordinate and oversee validation of end-to-end business and system processes.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute non-functional testing, system integration, and user acceptance testing.
• Communicate test plans, progress, issues, and risks to key project stakeholders.
• Conduct requirements traceability and gap analysis.
• Diagnose problems and report defects.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.
• Implement regression test suites for ETL pipelines, enabling continuous integration and testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and define test strategies.
• Mentor junior testers and guide teams in best practices for ETL testing.
• Manage QA activities, ensuring alignment with project timelines.

Requirements

• 7+ years experience in automation and manual positive & negative testing.
• 5+ years experience in testing and validating large volumes of data in data warehouses.
• 5+ years experience with Snowflake specific features, such as SnowPipe or SnowSQL.
• 5+ years experience creating automation test suites using SQL, Python, and pytest framework.
• 5+ years experience with test management tools like QTest and JIRA.
• 3+ years of banking experience with strong documentation of test evidence for compliance and audits.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong ability to manage business relationships.
• Proactive with great attention to detail and ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Leadership experience in mentoring junior testers.
