About the position

As a Data Transformation Specialist / Database Developer, you will be responsible for modernizing and transforming legacy data tools into efficient systems to support the U.S. Navy Self Defense Systems Division. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data management, accessibility, and collaboration, applying technical skills to support critical Navy operations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and assess legacy tools, including Excel tracking spreadsheets and MS Access databases, to develop modern database solutions.
• Lead transformation efforts to transition data into optimal formats for relational databases.
• Develop, configure, and manage SharePoint Lists and other data storage solutions for team-wide sharing.
• Design and implement front-end applications using Microsoft PowerApps.
• Create dynamic dashboards with Microsoft Power BI to visualize data insights.
• Collaborate with internal teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Optimize database structures and ensure data accuracy and integrity during the transformation process.
• Build analytical tools for advanced reporting and decision-making insights.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship
• Active Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one
• Minimum bachelor's degree in a field related to computer or information science
• Minimum of 3 years' experience building database solutions
• Strong proficiency in relational databases and SQL
• Hands-on experience with data migration and transformation
• Experience in developing solutions for cross-team sharing
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform tools (PowerApps, Power BI)
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, VBA, JavaScript, or Power Fx
• Certifications or training certificates relating to Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, or related technologies
