About the position

The Data Visualization Analyst at Texas A&M University is responsible for creating reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics that provide business insights to aid decision-making. This role involves data analysis, preparation, and visualization, ensuring accuracy and usability of the data presented to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Produce routine reports and perform quantitative or qualitative analysis using SQL Server, Tableau, and Excel.
  • Combine reports with insights to deliver basic advisement.
  • Collect data sets from the data warehouse for ranking survey submissions.
  • Identify trends and insights from basic datasets and communicate them visually.
  • Validate data visualizations against source data and business requirements.
  • Prepare raw data for visualizations by clearing, filtering, and transforming it.
  • Design basic data visualizations that effectively communicate insights.
  • Assist in developing interactive dashboards for user exploration of data.
  • Test visualizations with users for usability and iterate based on feedback.
  • Document design decisions, data sources, and methodologies for visualizations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand objectives and design reports and dashboards.
  • Provide basic training and support to end-users on data visualization tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and business intelligence software.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent inductive and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in higher education.
  • SQL skills and SQL Server experience.
  • Experience with Tableau Desktop and Server.
