About the position

Q2 Impact is seeking a qualified and passionate individual to fill the role of Data Visualization and GIS Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring information management systems, data visualization, and GIS tools for our projects across the globe. This role is crucial in supporting ongoing and future initiatives related to data collection and survey tools, the production of high-quality thematic maps and visual analyses, and data visualization tools, including interactive data monitoring products and tools. The individual will work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) teams to support evaluations and other research studies and analyses, providing graphics and visualization support for project-specific technical deliverables. The Data Visualization and GIS Specialist will support project field teams in developing data collection tools for GIS and field surveys. They will design and deliver training sessions on GIS design, data collection, and data storage for project field teams and stakeholders. The role involves managing and manipulating geospatial data for performance analysis and reporting, meeting regularly with project staff for accurate and timely data analysis, and designing, implementing, and maintaining GIS and other databases to manage MEL data. The specialist will create digital maps using geospatial data, analyze spatial and non-spatial information to generate reports and custom maps for ongoing activities, and conduct regular audits to ensure data quality, accuracy, consistency, and completeness, especially for GIS data. Additionally, the specialist will design and develop visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate complex data insights to internal and external stakeholders. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand their requirements and develop data visualization solutions that meet their needs is essential. The role also includes creating and maintaining documentation of data analysis and visualization processes, tools, and best practices, conducting data analysis to identify trends and insights that can inform decisions, and ensuring data accessibility to USAID and implementing partner staff as required, such as quarterly performance indicator data submissions.

Responsibilities

  • Support project field teams in developing data collection tools for GIS and field surveys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, GIS-related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least three years with a Master's, or five years with a Bachelor's.
  • Demonstrated professional experience with GIS platforms, data science, data curation, and mobile data collection technologies.
  • Experience contributing to USAID business development preferred.
  • Previous experience with statistical tools like Excel, PowerBI, or Tableau.
  • Strong skills in GIS software.
  • Experience utilizing AI tools for data analysis and visualization preferred.
  • Experience handling and processing non-standardized data.
  • Familiarity with databases, scripting, and cloud services desired.
  • Excellent research skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience contributing to USAID business development preferred.
