About the position

The Data Visualization Designer will support the Chief Economist, Deputy Chief Economist, and Research team by transforming complex economic data into clear, compelling, and interactive visual narratives. This role combines design expertise with data analysis skills to facilitate informed decision-making among stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Create dynamic and intuitive charts, graphs, dashboards, and infographics to communicate economic trends and findings.
• Collaborate with the Chief Economist, Deputy Chief Economist, and research teams to understand data insights and translate them into visual formats.
• Ensure all visual outputs adhere to brand guidelines and maintain consistency in style, accuracy, and clarity.
• Build and optimize interactive data tools and dashboards for presentations and publications.
• Stay updated with emerging trends in data visualization and economic communication to incorporate innovative techniques.
• Provide guidance to team members on best practices for data visualization and storytelling.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in data visualization, information design, or related roles.
• Proven track record of creating visualizations for complex data sets, preferably in economics, research, finance, or policy contexts.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, D3.js, Flourish).
• Strong design skills with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).
• Exceptional storytelling and visual communication skills.
• Ability to simplify and translate complex data for non-technical audiences.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to data integrity.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
• A passion for economics and making data accessible and engaging.
