Hearst Television seeks an ambitious and motivated Data Visualization Journalist to join our new data journalism team. This role involves analyzing data and producing and deploying the findings in innovative and visual ways to engage our viewers and readers. If you love traditional local journalism, are obsessed with data analysis, and you have the skills to merge those passions into creating impactful visual stories, this is the job for you. This data journalism team will regularly collaborate with our Television and Digital national teams, including the National Investigative Unit. You will be focused on fact-based journalism that captures the deeper context on big stories and relevant topics and uncovers the stories behind and within the data. You must have a deep understanding of and experience with seeking out and compiling data, interpreting it, and then taking the additional rewarding step of creating the visual experience that conveys the results. You have interest in breaking news, local and national news, politics, business and consumer content, and trending topics. You will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting data and delivering those findings by authoring news articles, conceptualizing the digital presentation, and then building it for our audiences and various platforms. You will also assist our television journalists in bringing their data-driven stories to life. We are searching for a highly organized and detail-oriented person, a self-starter with high-standards, a team player, and an expert communicator who can provide and take feedback as we deliver unique content on all platforms. This is a full-time in-person job based in one of our Hearst Television markets or at our corporate offices in Washington, DC or New York City.
