About the position

The Center for Rural Health Research at East Tennessee State University's College of Public Health is seeking a dedicated and innovative Data Visualization Research Faculty member. This role is pivotal in leading data visualization initiatives that aim to enhance our understanding of rural health issues. Responsibilities

  • Design and execute quantitative research studies addressing rural health questions.
  • Analyze complex datasets and translate findings into data visualizations and dashboards.
  • Produce data visualizations using Tableau and other visualization software tools.
  • Develop and implement workshops and training programs for community partners.
  • Direct the work of graduate students and assist in their research efforts.
  • Communicate research findings clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Public Health, Data Science, or Geography.
  • Demonstrated preparation of at least two online data dashboards and publication-ready visualizations.
  • Ability to produce products with Tableau visualization software.
  • Experience with other visualization software tools like QlikView or D3 is considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistical programs such as SPSS, STATA, R, or SAS.
  • Knowledge of data management systems and Microsoft Excel.
