About the position

As a Data Visualization Specialist at Booz Allen Hamilton, you will play a crucial role in identifying and collecting data sources, analyzing and extracting key data and information, and evaluating and monitoring data quality to meet the organization's information needs and requirements. You will provide consulting and technical expertise to address customer challenges and develop virtual dashboards using specialized software that integrates data from multiple databases. Your responsibilities will include identifying, designing, and executing visualization approaches to visually articulate cohesive analysis results. Additionally, you will conduct verification and validation of data, visualization models, and the resulting visualizations to ensure accuracy and reliability. In this position, you will leverage your experience in data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlik Sense, or Microsoft Power BI to create impactful visual representations of data. You will also utilize your knowledge of management consulting techniques, including client interviews and data gathering, to effectively communicate findings and insights to senior personnel. Your expertise in scripting languages like SQL or Python will be essential for data manipulation and analysis, while your understanding of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes will aid in the seamless integration of data from various sources. The role requires a strong foundation in operations research techniques, including probability and statistical methods, to inform your analysis and visualization strategies. You will be expected to capture user requirements and translate them into effective visualization solutions, ensuring that the final products meet the needs of stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Identify and collect data sources to meet organizational information needs.
  • Analyze and extract key data and information from various sources.
  • Evaluate and monitor data quality to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide consulting and technical expertise to address customer challenges.
  • Develop virtual dashboards using specialized software fed by multiple databases.
  • Identify, design, and execute visualization approaches for data analysis results.
  • Conduct verification and validation of data and visualization models.
  • Brief senior personnel on findings and insights from data analysis.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working in a professional environment.
  • 3+ years of experience with data analytics and data visualization tools, including Tableau, Qlik Sense, or Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience with management consulting techniques, including client interviews and data gathering.
  • Experience with scripting languages, including SQL or Python.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes using tools like PostgreSQL or Databricks.
  • Knowledge of operations research techniques, including probability and statistical methods.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Nice-to-haves
