About the position

The Data Warehouse Analyst plays a crucial role in partnering with both internal and external business clients and IT to fulfill information needs and support business decisions. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about data and its impact on business operations. The analyst will maintain information policies and procedures that support current and future data information needs, ensuring proper data definitions, ownership, use, and integrity of data. This involves a thorough understanding of the data warehouse's structure and capabilities, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. In this role, the analyst will analyze business user needs, document information requirements, and facilitate the identification of potential gaps in available data. Collaboration with business areas is essential to determine the best means for acquiring the necessary data. The analyst will work closely with IT resources to create and maintain the content of the data warehouse, ensuring that data definitions are clear and current. This includes completing metadata assessments and reviewing feedback to determine necessary changes. Additionally, the Data Warehouse Analyst will collaborate with IT resources and data owners to define business objectives and definitions for databases, including business rules, sources, purge archive criteria, and reload schedules. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong analytical mindset to ensure that the data warehouse effectively supports the organization's goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain information policies and procedures to support current and future data information needs.
  • Ensure proper data definitions, ownership, use, and integrity of data.
  • Analyze business user needs and document information requirements.
  • Facilitate the identification of potential gaps in available data.
  • Collaborate with business areas to determine the best means for acquiring necessary data.
  • Work with IT resources on the creation and maintenance of the data warehouse content.
  • Establish and maintain knowledge of data warehouse data structure design, definitions, capabilities, SQL, and data integrity issues.
  • Complete metadata assessments and review feedback to determine changes.
  • Ensure that data definitions are clear and current, and communicate changes to all users.
  • Collaborate with IT resources and data owners to define business objectives and definitions for databases.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in data analysis, data modeling, and working with automated data warehouse systems.
  • Experience in SQL, SAS, and Business Objects preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience writing transactional SQL statements.
  • Technical skills in MS-Access, MS Excel, and ETL preferred.
