About the position

Iron Systems is seeking a skilled Data Warehouse Architect to join our team in Annapolis, MD. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and building a comprehensive data warehouse solution, leveraging conventional data warehouse technologies. This role requires a deep understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of data solutions. The Data Warehouse Architect will participate in all aspects of the data warehouse and ETL process design, creation, and specification for components. The successful candidate will work closely with technical, functional, and management representatives from the Judicial Information Systems (JIS) and the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). Key responsibilities include creating a logical warehouse data design, collaborating with the platform administration team to design ETL processes, and documenting system requirements. The architect will also assist in the development and implementation of ETL tools, conduct testing of tools and data pipelines, and develop effective data warehouse models that represent the data entities based on functional analytic, reporting, and bulk data requirements. Additionally, the Data Warehouse Architect will be responsible for ensuring that all work complies with regulatory standards to protect sensitive data. Regular reporting on project progress, status, and time will be required, along with any additional reports as assigned by the supervising manager. This position demands strong analytical, consultative, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work productively with peers, end users, vendor development staff, and all levels of management and judicial personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build a data warehouse solution using conventional data warehouse technologies.
  • Participate in all aspects of data warehouse and ETL process design, creation, and specification.
  • Create a logical warehouse data design and collaborate with the platform administration team to design ETL processes.
  • Document system requirements and manage development while facilitating knowledge transfer.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of ETL tools and conduct testing of tools and data pipelines.
  • Develop effective data warehouse models representing data entities based on functional analytic, reporting, and bulk data requirements.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to ensure data warehouse architecture development and utilization.
  • Ensure all work complies with regulatory standards to protect sensitive data.
  • Provide weekly progress reports on programs and projects, including project status and time reporting.

Requirements

  • Strong database and analytical skills with the ability to query source data.
  • Knowledge and experience with ETL tools, Visual Studio, XML, and SQL.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python for automating tasks in Azure.
  • Strong analytical, consultative, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work productively and maintain effective working relationships with peers and management.
  • Experience with BI best practices, relational structures, and dimensional data modeling.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing database models and ETL procedures for data intake from multiple sources.
  • Advanced experience with SQL Server 2016 or above, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and stored procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Power BI and Tableau for data visualization.
  • Familiarity with Azure Synapse, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure Databricks.
  • Knowledge of dimensional modeling techniques and their applications in Azure architecture.
