About The Position

The Data Warehouse Architect at Hood Container Corporation is responsible for developing and supporting the collection and organization of information from various data sources. This role involves creating best practices for data management and ensuring the logical design and continual evolution of the data warehouse. The architect collaborates with business stakeholders to provide a unified source of truth for developers and end users, enhancing data integrity and accessibility within the manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of first-hand experience with a data warehouse solution is required.
  • Experience with relational databases (Microsoft SQL, MySQL, DB2, PostgreSQL, etc.) and reporting tool vendors (IBM, Microsoft, AWS, SAS).
  • Utilize object-oriented languages (.Net C, C++, Java, C#, etc.) and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, R, etc.).
  • Experience with visual analytics platforms like Microsoft Power BI and SSIS, SQL Analysis Services, and OLAP cubes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AWS services for data management.
  • Knowledge of data normalization techniques.
  • Familiarity with budgeting processes related to data projects.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze requirements for complex business processes and technical problems, working with end users to define business data issues and devise effective solutions.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service, align with the organization's expectations, and minimize production downtime while adhering to approved operating and capital budgets.
  • Develop the logical design of the data warehouse solution.
  • Design interfaces between independent data sources and the data warehouse.
  • Develop and present best practices for communicating with the data warehouse, maintaining it, and continuing its development.
  • Utilize experience with relational databases and reporting tool vendors.
  • Troubleshoot production-related data issues, debug and implement changes.
  • Assess user requests for new or modified programs to determine feasibility, cost, time requirements, compatibility with current systems, and computer capabilities.
  • Perform maintenance and system changes to improve efficiencies, performance, and reliability.
  • Consult with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify objectives.
  • Research and document overall system descriptions, processes, data flows, and dependencies.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call support for major incidents.
