About the position

The Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence Architect at Crayola LLC is a senior technical resource responsible for the overall architecture of the Business Intelligence (BI) environment. This role encompasses designing the technical architecture and defining best practices for the data warehouse environment, as well as establishing the data architecture for the BI reporting tool. The architect will lead development projects from inception through delivery, ensuring that the architecture aligns with business needs and technical requirements. In this position, the architect will define the overall data warehouse architecture, which includes the ETL (Extraction, Transformation, and Load) process, Operational Data Store (ODS), Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and Data Marts. They will also be responsible for establishing best practices and ensuring data standardization across all aspects of the data warehouse architecture, including load strategies, package scripts, schemas, dimensions, and fact tables. The architect will perform basic Snowflake DBA functions, such as creating tables, indexes, and stored procedures, and will lead the data warehouse team in configuring and auditing the data warehouse to ensure data quality and accuracy. The architect will serve as the project lead for BI initiatives, executing all tasks involved in creating BI reports and dashboards. They will collaborate closely with business partners to define key business drivers and work with senior management and technical design teams to prioritize new BI requirements. Additionally, the architect will define metadata standards for the data warehouse and will have a strong understanding of source systems, particularly SAP, to facilitate data extraction. This role also involves designing and directing the information access and delivery efforts for the data warehouse, as well as participating in the selection of technical solutions to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Define the overall data warehouse architecture including ETL processes, ODS, EDW, and Data Marts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems; Master's preferred.
  • 7+ years of Business Intelligence work experience.
  • 10+ years of overall IT experience.
  • Experience in leading multiple successful enterprise data warehousing efforts.
  • Expertise in data warehousing technologies including ETL, ODS, DBMS, and BI.
  • Strong data modeling skills (normalized and multidimensional).
  • Understanding of business data and its various sources, including SAP.
  • Strong business and communication skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • High initiative and ability to prioritize in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work on simultaneous projects.
