About the position

The Data Warehouse Developer VI at Texas Windstorm Insurance Association will focus on designing scalable and resilient data warehousing and business intelligence solutions to support the organization's growth. This role involves collaborating with various departments to provide accurate and actionable information to stakeholders, ensuring effective data management and architecture practices are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop recommendations and conduct analysis to support strategic efforts.
  • Plan, design, develop, implement, and enhance applications, scripts, procedures, and metadata for relational databases.
  • Champion enterprise data management best practices and provide recommendations for data architecture structure and standards.
  • Oversee end-to-end architecture and data warehouse life cycle management activities.
  • Design, develop, and implement the data architecture for a data warehouse, including high-performance ETL tools and routines.
  • Recognize and leverage internal and external data sources to enhance analysis capabilities.
  • Reverse engineer data specifications from source systems through data discovery and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain Data Models, including an Enterprise Data Dictionary.
  • Establish methods and procedures for tracking data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement.
  • Participate with application and infrastructure design architects to provide guidance for development and releases.
  • Influence technology direction and adjustments to incorporate into business plans.
  • Review and ensure major architectural designs are consistent, maintainable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Lead retrospectives and define opportunities for experiments and POCs.
  • Perform troubleshooting on all ETL processes and resolve issues effectively within IT service level agreements.
  • Engage hands-on in complex data challenges and Information Management projects to derive insights from data.
  • Oversee business intelligence/data warehouse security and data load and implementation strategies.
  • Lead enterprise projects through all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)/Agile process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of directly relevant experience in Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in building ETL, reporting, and Data Visualization solutions using tools like SAP Data Services, Informatica, Data Stage, Microsoft SSIS, QlikView, Tableau.
  • 2+ years of work experience in Guidewire Data Management tools.
  • Experience in building conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling; dimensional modeling preferred.
  • Significant experience in software development processes and best practices.
  • Understanding of business operations, preferably in property and casualty insurance.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with both technical and business users.
  • Demonstrated experience working as an individual contributor and as part of a team.
  • Proven experience in providing guidance to developers, quality assurance, and business analysts.
  • Attention to detail, self-discipline, strong ownership, accountability, and drive for results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with agile methodology.
  • Certifications in Property & Casualty and IT domains.
  • Experience in the financial or property and casualty insurance industry.
  • Experience in building Master Data Management & Data Governance.
  • Experience in JAVA programming and reverse engineering source code.
