About the position
The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Data Warehouse Engineer/DBA to join the Health Sciences Research IT team. This role involves designing data pipelines for ingestion and transformation, optimizing query performance, and performing database administration functions. The candidate will collaborate with various research groups, mentor junior team members, and ensure data quality and delivery while working on multiple projects.
Responsibilities
- Design pipelines for data ingestion and transformation
- Work independently on multiple projects
- Collaborate with groups to understand and document project requirements
- Develop data warehouse models, data domains, and cubes optimized for OLAP
- Perform all DBA functions including permissions and performance monitoring
- Optimize queries and databases
- Mentor junior team members
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 5 years of experience with MS SQL Server
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Experience with data ingestion pipelines and database administration
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Azure, AWS, Snowflake, and NoSQL
- Familiarity with EHR and claims data
