About the position

The Data Warehouse Test Engineer will be responsible for designing and executing test cases in a software integration environment. This role involves close collaboration with development engineers to verify backend database storage and processing, utilizing both commercial database query tools and in-house data validation tools. The engineer will also work alongside Test Automation Engineers to execute automated scripts, ensuring the quality and performance of data warehouse applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform integration, system, regression, and performance testing.
  • Review product requirements and use cases and translate them into test cases.
  • Create test procedures/scripts.
  • Execute test scripts and document and report results.
  • Submit defect reports and communicate issues to business, engineering, and management.
  • Attend various meetings with Solution Designers and developers to receive work order requirements.
  • Enter requirements into a test workbook and create test cases based on the requirements, ensuring traceability.
  • Conduct peer reviews with the Solution Design team to ensure coverage of requirements.
  • Develop SQL scripts based on defined test cases and trace them accordingly.
  • Define data mockups/needs during the testing process.
  • Conduct defect triage and execute tests in development, test, and production environments.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in an IT-related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years software test experience.
  • SQL experience.
  • Experience testing Oracle or DB2 applications including data validation.
  • Experience developing test cases and manual test scripts.
  • Knowledge of test case management, test strategies, and defect tracking.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience with Rational ClearQuest, RequisitePro, and TestManager.
  • General knowledge of Health Plan or health applications is helpful.
  • General programming knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience with ad-hoc analysis tools such as TOAD, SAS, COGNOS, PL/SQL Developer, and/or other analytic tools.
