About the position

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to join our talented team in Alpharetta, GA. This position is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days a week onsite. The DBA will be responsible for a broad range of duties that include providing guidance and support to the application team, installing, tuning, implementing, and upgrading Database Management System (DBMS) installations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various database technologies including SAP ASE/Sybase, Oracle, Redis, Postgres, and Cassandra, as well as scripting skills in Ansible, Python, and Shell, and a solid understanding of Linux environments. The DBA will be tasked with writing and deploying SQL patches, processing work accurately and in a timely manner, and making proactive recommendations for system improvements. They will also collate, prepare, and present statistical information for both internal and external use. The role requires continuous monitoring of databases and related systems to ensure high functionality, as well as troubleshooting platform-specific performance issues and debugging existing database scripts and programs. Additionally, the DBA will review daily, weekly, and monthly database reports to spot problems and ensure that all databases and support systems are operating at peak levels. This position requires expertise in installation, upgrade, and patching of different components in Sybase, MS SQL Server, and Postgres, along with experience in replication, monitoring systems, ensuring production uptime, and providing data cleansing services. The DBA will also be responsible for routine maintenance, schema creation, deployment, and maintenance, as well as setting up and configuring auditing and disaster recovery setups. Performance analysis and tuning expertise are also essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily, weekly, and monthly database reports to ensure optimal performance.

Requirements

  • Expertise in installation, upgrade, and patching of different components in Sybase, MS SQL Server, and Postgres.
  • Experience with replication including setup, troubleshooting issues, and failovers.
  • Monitor all systems including work processes, users, system logs, and disk space.
  • Ensure production uptime service levels are maintained including backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Provide data cleansing services and verify data integrity.
  • Experience with schema creation, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery setup and maintenance.
  • Automation using shell-script, Python, Ansible, etc.
  • Performance analysis and monitoring of SQL queries.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Redis and Cassandra databases.
  • Familiarity with Ansible, Python, and Shell scripting for automation.
  • Knowledge of auditing and audit trails setup.
