About the position

As a Database Administration III at Konami Gaming, Inc., you will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of customer systems, specifically focusing on Oracle Databases. Your responsibilities will include ensuring data integrity, performing backup and recovery operations, and analyzing performance to optimize database functionality. You will be tasked with supporting the Konami Casino Management System (KCMS) product, particularly the SYNKROS application, by troubleshooting and resolving customer support issues related to the database. This position requires a deep understanding of database management and the ability to work under pressure to provide round-the-clock support for Oracle database production environments. In this role, you will analyze and support various software versions of SYNKROS, ensuring that customer requirements are met while maintaining the integrity of the database. You will also be responsible for addressing monthly maintenance tasks for all customer databases, which include conducting tablespace checks, managing RMAN backups, and monitoring application data management. Your expertise will be essential in performing database migrations, testing backup and recovery processes, and tuning SQL queries to enhance performance. Additionally, you will collaborate with the engineering team to document and address any functional gaps in the SYNKROS software, ensuring that casino business operations run smoothly. The position demands a proactive approach to troubleshooting, as you will need to resolve issues related to database replication, advanced queue messaging, and Oracle data guard configurations. Your ability to analyze and correct application data will be vital in providing exceptional customer support and maintaining high standards of database performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation and maintenance of new and existing customer systems (Oracle Databases).
  • Conduct backup and recovery, data integrity investigation and correction, and replication of data between multiple sites.
  • Analyze and support Konami Casino Management System (KCMS) product SYNKROS application and data from the database perspective.
  • Provide customer support for SYNKROS software versions 3.24.9 to 4.1 and Oracle database versions 12c, 18c & 19c.
  • Troubleshoot the SYNKROS system for interface, performance, iware, slot machine issues, and data corrections.
  • Understand and support casino business operations through Konami SYNKROS software and document functional gaps.
  • Provide round-the-clock Oracle database production environment support and resolve support issues.
  • Address monthly maintenance of all customer databases including tablespace checks and RMAN backups.
  • Perform migration of databases, RMAN backup-recovery testing, and database refresh from PROD to non-PROD.
  • Conduct SQL query performance tuning, reindexing, and gather stats.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related field.
  • 60 months of experience in job offered, Senior Database Administrator, Sr Database Engineer, or closely related.
  • Installation, configuration, and upgrade of different versions of Oracle databases on Linux machines.
  • Capacity planning and administration of database environments, including performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Experience with database tuning, application tuning, and performance monitoring using various tools.
  • Experience with database restore and recovery from RMAN tape backups.
  • Ability to apply quarterly PSU patches on databases released by Oracle.
  • Experience installing and configuring GoldenGate on 11g/12C databases for data replication.
