About the position

The Database Admin III position is responsible for managing RDBMS databases, ensuring their integrity and reliability through quality control and performance tuning. The role involves monitoring and refreshing data, performing installations and testing of new releases and patches, and providing technical support for database-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform Sybase/MySQL/Vertica/PostgreSQL/MS SQL database administration duties including installation, data migration, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure database high availability and monitor performance.
• Manage backup and recovery processes.
• Design, code, test, debug, install, and maintain databases and DB objects.
• Review and enhance existing database code to improve performance.
• Provide application development support including database analysis and design, data model changes, and SQL tuning.
• Resolve daily database problems and conduct routine maintenance and upgrades.
• Evaluate new database productions and features.

Requirements

• BA/BS in computer science engineering or equivalent fields.
• Minimum of 5 years' administrative experience with Sybase, MySQL, and Vertica database servers.
• Experience upgrading database servers and performing database migrations.
• Ability to operate a single database instance of 2TB+ and manage 200+ database instances.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills under pressure.
• Proficiency in database design, administration, implementation, upgrades, and monitoring.
• Experience with transactional databases and Data Warehousing.
• Strong Data Modeling and Database design skills.
• Experience with Stored Procedures, Triggers, and optimization techniques.
