Peraton is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support our National Programs Intelligence Systems & Application Operating Unit. The SITE III ITS Task Order effort is charged with the orchestration, sustainment, and evolution of a portfolio of mission applications and services for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). The ideal candidate will be responsible for all Operation & Maintenance (O&M) tasks and maintaining operational baselines and performance of application O&M activities to include: patching, database performance monitoring, and customer support. When necessary, the candidate will troubleshoot database performance issues and recommend appropriate action. The candidate will work closely with members of the project team, product subject matter experts, end users, and software engineers to ensure that the application remains operational by monitoring performance, providing technical assistance, and consultation to users. Additional duties will include supporting system administrators, developing tools to assist in management of systems, ensuring application documentation (e.g., System Administration Guides, SOPs, Installation Procedures, etc.), and performing daily application/database backups. The Database Administrator will maintain the integrity, security, and availability of multiple databases, including monitoring for availability and performance, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues that arise, performing routine maintenance, performance analysis and tuning, disaster backup and recovery, index maintenance, and monitoring of data and capacity planning. The role also involves administering, maintaining, developing, and implementing policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of all databases (Development, Test, Production). In coordination with application system administrators, the Database Administrator will plan and schedule maintenance including routine and emergency security patching for database management systems and platforms in the production environment. The candidate will obtain and maintain applicable privileged user accounts in compliance with DIA security regulations, completing all applicable annual user training. Other responsibilities include maintaining access control settings, user accounts and password resets, performing database backups, and reviewing and archiving log files. The Database Administrator will evaluate and recommend available database management system (DBMS) products, provide support to platform system administrators by providing analysis and recommendations for any system or performance improvements, and perform database and software life-cycle activities to ensure the highest level of system performance and availability and compliance with business requirements. The role also requires coordinating with vendors to resolve issues and obtain application patches to resolve database server software-related defects, performing Oracle and PostgreSQL database and application server administration, organizing and formatting data for efficient query and storage processes, and updating applicable documentation.
