About the position
The Database Admin is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's databases and database engines, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and efficient. This role requires Network Engineering experience in a healthcare or medium to large business environment, and it emphasizes a customer-centric approach within the IT team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in achieving company goals and initiatives, profitability, and productivity requirements.
- Provide assistance to colleagues and IT team members in designing, developing, and testing reports and data warehousing solutions.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, apply patches and fixes, and perform regular maintenance tasks.
- Implement security measures to protect the database from unauthorized access and data breaches.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries and indexes.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Assist users in accessing and retrieving data, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical support.
- Collaborate with other IT teams for seamless integration of database activities with broader IT initiatives.
- Foster a customer-centric culture within the service desk team, promoting excellent customer service.
- Conduct automation feasibility studies, including workflow and cost comparison analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree is required (a combination of experience and/or certifications may be considered).
- 3 to 5 years of work experience in database administration.
- Certification in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or newer (MSSQL) is required within 1 year.
- Must complete MySQL Server 8.0 or higher or Oracle SQL training within 1 year.
