About the position

As a Database Administrator 2, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining our database systems to ensure their reliability, performance, and security. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and upgrading of database servers and application tools. Your expertise will be essential in monitoring and optimizing database performance, implementing backup and recovery strategies, and ensuring data integrity and security. You will work closely with application developers to design and implement database solutions that meet the needs of our business operations. In this position, you will also be tasked with troubleshooting database issues and providing support to users. You will develop and maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and policies. Additionally, you will participate in capacity planning and performance tuning to ensure that our database systems can handle the growing demands of our applications. Your role will require you to stay updated with the latest database technologies and best practices to continuously improve our database management processes. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that database solutions align with business objectives. You will also be involved in training and mentoring junior database administrators, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their roles. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in database administration.
  • Proficiency in SQL and database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud database solutions such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL Database.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices.
  • Familiarity with database performance tuning tools.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
