About the position

The Database Administrator 3 position at Ark Solutions Inc is a senior-level role focused on managing and optimizing database systems, specifically Oracle and PostgreSQL. The role requires advanced expertise in database architectures, security, and performance tuning, along with strong problem-solving skills. The candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of databases, while also participating in a 24x7 on-call support rotation.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Multi-Tenant Architecture and PostgreSQL database servers.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and implement efficient, scalable database solutions.
• Monitor database performance and system resource utilization to ensure high availability.
• Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Configure and maintain database security, ensuring appropriate user permissions and roles are in place.
• Analyze and forecast future database storage requirements for scalability.
• Perform data migrations between Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other databases.
• Implement and manage high availability solutions such as Oracle Data Guard and PostgreSQL streaming replication.
• Resolve database-related incidents and provide technical support to teams.
• Automate routine database administration tasks using scripts.
• Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Ensure databases comply with relevant regulatory standards and perform regular audits.
• Stay current with new database technologies and propose improvements.

Requirements

• Advanced expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL databases (7-9 years for Oracle, 4-6 years for PostgreSQL).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with Red Hat Linux Operating Systems.
• Knowledge of database performance monitoring and tuning methodologies.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Understanding of database security principles and best practices.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple complex database systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with automation tools for monitoring and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with ETL processes for data movement and transformation.
• Knowledge of compliance standards such as GDPR, SOX, and HIPAA.
