About the position

This position is for an Oracle Database Administrator within a healthcare platform team, focusing on managing and transforming large-scale healthcare applications. The role involves providing enterprise-wide DBA support, ensuring high availability and performance of Oracle Database systems, and collaborating with application development teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing Exadata systems and will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of database management, from provisioning to upgrades and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise-wide Oracle Database Administration support for production systems.
  • Manage a large fleet of Oracle databases with a focus on high availability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with application development teams to provide DBA services, including database design and production support.
  • Ensure timely and accurate solutions to user problems to maintain productivity.
  • Take full stack ownership of Exadata technology, understanding its configuration and dependencies.
  • Design, deliver, implement, and maintain mission-critical database systems.
  • Act as the ultimate escalation point for complex issues not documented in SOPs.
  • Communicate technical characteristics and requirements of services and technology stacks.
  • Utilize automation and orchestration principles to improve service delivery.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in building and maintaining distributed systems.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Strong grasp of Computer Science concepts and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in Perl and/or Shell scripting.
  • Experience in building highly available and scalable Exadata systems.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture and best practices for Oracle Database & Exadata.
  • Experience with high availability and replication technologies such as Data Guard and GoldenGate.
  • Working knowledge of Linux OS systems and the Linux kernel.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Python scripting.
  • Familiarity with service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols.
  • Understanding of incident investigation and troubleshooting best practices.
