About the position

The Database Administrator (DBA) position at CADRE is focused on implementing, modifying, and deploying software for mission-critical networks and systems. The DBA will manage data organization and storage, ensure system performance, and coordinate security measures while maintaining data integrity and backup systems. This role is essential for supporting national security challenges in a demanding environment, located in Northern Virginia with flexible core hours.

Responsibilities

  • Perform server and storage capacity management and planning for complex systems.
  • Recommend and implement process and tool improvements for change management and configuration management.
  • Perform server performance tuning.
  • Utilize system software to monitor performance of system files and manage system data.
  • Study system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures.
  • Provide technical support in evaluating object names, data elements, and other objects.
  • Ensure proposed object definitions are clear, concise, and technically correct.
  • Answer user inquiries regarding software and hardware operation to resolve problems.
  • Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify operations and detect errors.
  • Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.
  • Confer with management and users to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
  • Conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and provide technical assistance.
  • Plan and test capacity requirements.
  • Inspect equipment and prepare for delivery to users.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by project management.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience specific to the skill.
  • Experience with Oracle and knowledge of Oracle Administration in a Windows environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active TS/SCI with poly with recent BI/Polygraph dates within the last five years.
  • Experience with older versions of Oracle, especially Oracle 11g Advanced Replication.
  • Experience with Backup Exec in a virtual environment.
