About the position

As a Database Administrator/Architect at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming technology into opportunity, particularly in support of the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance and involves working on-site at Fort Meade, MD. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the integrity, security, and availability of database systems that are vital for the operations of various agencies. You will be at the forefront of innovation, helping to improve how these agencies operate by designing and maintaining robust database systems that facilitate the movement of information across applications. In this role, you will focus on requirements engineering, software architecture, testing, and deployment, ensuring that the software interacts effectively with the technical architecture. You will design database systems that adhere to industry standards, allowing for accurate reporting and future modifications as the organization evolves. Your work will involve participating in the design, creation, and maintenance of computerized databases, ensuring quality control and auditing to promote appropriate data usage. You will collaborate with management to develop database strategies that align with organizational requirements and consult with users to resolve data conflicts. Your responsibilities will also include directing the maintenance and use of the corporate data dictionary, performing administration tasks for MS SQL Server and other DBMS, and implementing policies to ensure the security and integrity of the database systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for performance analysis, tuning, and the implementation of High Availability and Disaster Recovery features for MS SQL Server, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements and optimizing system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, creation, and maintenance of computerized databases.
  • Ensure quality control and auditing of databases for accurate data usage.
  • Develop database strategies to support organizational requirements in collaboration with management.
  • Consult with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage.
  • Direct the maintenance and use of the corporate data dictionary.
  • Perform administration tasks for MS SQL Server and other DBMS.
  • Implement policies and procedures for the security, availability, and integrity of the DBMS.
  • Create and update documentation for the accreditation of the DBMS on classified networks.
  • Conduct performance analysis, tuning, and index maintenance for databases.
  • Build new Microsoft SQL Server Instances within on-premise architecture.
  • Automate routine administration tasks and update continuity documents.
  • Implement and manage High Availability and Disaster Recovery features for MS SQL Server.
  • Verify and develop database backup, storage, and replication schemes across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience in database administration or architecture.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance is mandatory.
  • BS Degree with 12 years of experience or MS Degree with 10 years of experience.
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment (CE) Certification is required prior to support on contract.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience installing, configuring, securing, updating, and maintaining SQL Server Enterprise 2022 database software.
  • Experience using SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Ability to evaluate and resolve Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Experience implementing SQL Server Backup, Integrity check, and Index Optimizers.
  • Ability to address security vulnerabilities discovered in weekly Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans.
