The role of Database Administrator at Oldcastle Infrastructure is pivotal in identifying and implementing improvements in operational support systems and processes across a diverse portfolio. This position is designed to optimize the value chain and is part of an exciting IT transformation initiative aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. As a Database Administrator, you will be empowered to identify and prioritize opportunities for simplification and optimization, working closely with developers, system analysts, engineers, and functional managers to maintain operational stability, security, and availability of database systems. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database solutions that adhere to company standards and industry best practices. You will drive efforts to identify root causes of issues, leading to actionable solutions that prevent recurrence and enable a focus on higher-value opportunities. The position requires taking responsibility for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex database projects, supporting them through the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), which includes inception, design, implementation, migration/cutover planning, and production support/maintenance. Additionally, you will implement, maintain, and enhance backup and recovery strategies, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, ensuring best practices in configurations and database maintenance. You will lead efforts in performance tuning, simplified administration, and continuous availability, while also overseeing security, compliance, and audit efforts. Proactive monitoring of all database systems to maximize availability and minimize downtime or performance degradation will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also create and maintain documentation on standards, procedures, and processes, facilitating continuous improvement through innovation and adherence to industry best practices. Collaboration with vendors, customers, and other IT personnel will be essential in triaging problem resolution and initiating new projects.
